How was your #smallbusinesssaturday?

How was your #smallbusinesssaturday? We shopped small businesses in Carpentersville and East Dundee, Illinois. Some great promotions, sales and energy (the almost 50-degree weather and sunshine helped!). I hope if you are a small business owner or entrepreneur or if you shopped small today, you had an amazing and rewarding day. #shopsmall

#BlackFridayReal: Focusing on What Matters Most

Will I shop today, Black Friday? OK. Sure, I admit, I will. A little. But I'm going to try to stay focused on the things that matter most to me: Family, friends, community.
That's why I've declared this my own personal #BlackFridayReal. Among all the coupon codes, exclusive deals and doorbusters, I'm going to try to find my flow by:
  • Writing to an old friend.
  • Bagging up winter clothes and canned goods for a couple of local donation drives.
  • Hunkering down with a good book
  • Taking the big dog on a long walk.
Wishing you a safe, sane and fulfilling #blackfriday. Whatever you do, may you keep it real.
